TV: New Girl starring Zooey Deschanel on FOX this Fall

In the absolute mess of shows trying to stitch comedy and romance together, why would you want to bring in another with the same storyline? New Girl, by No Strings Attached writer Liz Meriwether, stands out. With a young ensemble including movie darling Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Damon Wayans, Jr., Jake Johnson, and Hannah Simone, this story is about an adorable, quirky, and newly single Jess who moves in with three single guys. Jess is comfortable with her off-beat but completely engaging personality but the guys want to get her back in the game so she can stop lounging around the apartment singing self-titled jingles about her life watching Dirty Dancing all day. They start to learn a lot themselves while helping Jess and realize that friendship is one of the strongest forces out there. As FOX puts it, as the relationships grow, “the five friends come to realize they need each other more than they ever thought they would and end up forming a charmingly dysfunctional family.”

Not only is Zooey joining her sister Emily (Dr. Brennan on Bones) this fall on FOX, but this will also be the first time she headlines a TV series. Known for her roles in movies and singing in the indie folk duo She & Him with M. Ward, Mrs. Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie front man) could possibly be one of the most loved women in Hollywood. Her unconventional and stunning beauty is almost a direct contradiction of what the leading women in Tinsel Town “should” look like, but she is still a wonderful role model for women because she is genuine, humble, quirky, and beyond talented.

And she has beautiful hair—seriously. Am I the only person that is obsessed with her hair?

One of my personal role models & inspirations, Zooey Deschanel is a gorgeous, fun, gifted woman with so much left to impact this over-tanned, overbearing town of power hungry achievers. I cannot wait for this show to start; also a plus: with the idea from Liz Meriwether, I know it has to be good.

All photos and videos have rights with FOX Studios.

Oh, I’m definitely obsessed with her hair. haha Can’t wait for this!
